How we use AI
We use AI tools in our newsroom. This page explains where they help, where people decide, and how to tell us when we get something wrong.
What AI tools do here
- Find. Software agents watch public sources every day: government agencies, regulators, court and rule filings, official data releases and other news outlets. They turn up leads.
- Draft. Agents write first drafts from the primary documents they found, such as the agency notice, the dataset or the law itself. Each draft lists every source it relies on.
- Check. Agents re-open every source link before a draft moves on and flag anything they could not confirm. If a fact can't be traced to a source, it comes out.
What people do
- Our AI-assisted newsroom researches, writes and checks each story under our published editorial standards, and every published story ends with a line saying it was produced with AI assistance. The byline is Monsaur Othman, our publisher, who is responsible for everything we publish. AI is never listed as an author.
- Monsaur Othman, who owns these sites, approves our standards and signs off on sensitive items.
- People, not software, decide corrections and fact-check ratings.
What we don't do
- We don't present AI-generated faces, voices or personas as real people. If we ever use an AI-generated image or voice, we will label it.
- We don't publish a story just because an AI tool drafted it. If we can't confirm it from a primary source, we don't run it.
- We don't copy other outlets' articles. We summarize, link to the original and credit it. Videos and social posts are shown through the platform's own embed, credited to whoever made them.
- We don't treat social media posts as proof. They can point us to a story, but we confirm it elsewhere. The exception is an official account whose post is itself the news, such as an agency announcing a decision; then the post is the record, and we link it.

Per-site notes
- The Highline Report. For adults 21 and over. We report news and rules; we don't make health claims about cannabis. Monsaur Othman owns cannabis businesses, and any story that mentions them carries a clear disclosure at the top.
