Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix them in the open.
Our policy
- We correct promptly. When we confirm an error, we fix the story and add a note at the top saying what was wrong, what is right and when we changed it.
- Our publisher approves every correction. Our AI-assisted newsroom checks each reported error against the evidence and drafts the fix, and Monsaur Othman, our publisher, approves it before it runs. Corrections are never published automatically.
- No quiet rewrites. We only edit without a note for typos and formatting that don't change the meaning.
- Every correction is logged in the table below, with a link to the story.
- Fact-check ratings. On The Whole Read, if a fact-check rating changes, we show the old rating, the new rating, the new evidence and the date.
- Sensitive corrections that involve a named person, legal matters, health information or a company Monsaur Othman owns are reviewed by Monsaur before they go up.
How to report an error
Tell us the story, what you think is wrong and, if you can, a source. Every report is reviewed and corrections are logged publicly. Send reports to the email address on our contact page. You can also use our contact page.
Per-site notes
- The Highline Report. Corrections to stories that mention businesses Monsaur Othman owns keep the ownership disclosure in place.
