Age policy
The Highline Report is for adults 21 and over. Illinois allows adult-use cannabis only for people 21 and older, so we write for that audience and ask every visitor to confirm their age before reading.
Why do we ask your age?
We cover cannabis law, taxes, policy and the market. Even though we only report the news and don't sell anything, we keep the site for adults so we never appeal to anyone under 21.
What happens to your answer?
Your answer is saved only in your own browser, so you aren't asked again on every page. We don't send it to us or anyone else, and it isn't tied to your name or email. Clearing your browser data resets it.
What if I'm under 21?
Please leave the site. If you or someone you know has questions about substance use, the free, confidential SAMHSA National Helpline is open 24 hours a day at 1-800-662-4357, or visit samhsa.gov.
What we never do
- We never target ads, emails or social posts at anyone under 21.
- We never use cartoons, characters or anything else designed to appeal to young people.
- We don't sell cannabis, list prices or make health claims.
Signups
Our newsletter signup also asks you to confirm you're 21 or older. If we learn a subscriber is under 21, we remove them.
